The Mystery of Life
- Brother David Steindl-Rast
In order to attune ourselves to this week’ topic – “Ecology of Mind and Matter” – it will be helpful to attempt definitions of key terms that will inevitably come up in our discussions. Brother David Steindl-Rast will place the concepts of mind and matter into the overarching context of life as “mystery” – a term that demands special attention in order to rescue it from misunderstandings. We will approach this task not abstractly, but experientially, along the trajectories of three existential questions: Why? What? and How? We will also have to ask who it is that raises these questions. Thus, the opening talk will try to lead into this Todi Week’s theme in the spirit of previous Cortona Weeks – bridging the gap between science and spirituality.
