Stella de Sabata
Current Position
Global Health Manager, Evidence-based advocacy for policy change
Bio
Stella de Sabata, MA has been active for the last 20 years in international health cooperation, policy and advocacy, with a cross-cutting noncommunicable diseases prevention and control approach. She holds two Master degrees in the humanities from the University of Geneva and has a keen interest in science. Stella has worked with academia (University of Geneva), NGOs (Union for International Cancer Control; International Diabetes Federation European Region) and the United Nations (International Atomic Energy Agency, World Health Organization/International Agency for Research on Cancer) focusing on strategy development, programme implementation, capacity building and knowledge sharing, as well as advocacy for policy change. She is especially interested in lessons learned and adapting successful methodologies to specific settings, and is a strong believer in cross-fertilization. Stella met Prof. Luisi at a course on system science and immediately became involved with the organization of the original Cortona week, which she enthusiastically contributed to for twelve years. Standing by Oscar Wilde’s quote “I can resist anything, except temptation” she couldn’t but take the renewed Cortona-week bait!
