2026 Midsummer Rendezvous

… All this to me this is also part of the development of the next Cortona phase-which need some clarification. Here only a few notes.

I am the one who made from scratch Cortona 1.0-lets call it so. At that time too, there were some strong emotional problems and sufferance, as several colleagues stopped greeting me, and I even underwent a “trial” in an ETHZ Professorenonferenz, being accused by the Rektor to take students away from their lab to seduce them in the sunny Toscana. It was expected by everyone that after that I would stop the experiment, but then a few friends, even unexpected, unknown ones, came close to me, squeezing my hands, and so we proceeded for over 30 years, from one success to the next.

Why do I say this, well known to most of you?

To introduce the next phase of Cortona: the Cortona process cannot stop here at Cortona 1.0, particularly now that Cortona message has reached a great social importance- we should move towards a second phase, say Cortona 2.0, which means international and multiple.

To reach these international targets -e.g. say connecting with MIT or Harvard or the Max-Plank Institutes or the Shanghai Science Academy- I need people like Federico Faggin, or Francesco Laperna, and few others. The making of such an international networking is not easy, we do not know well how to do it, there will be a stronger advisory board, but even so, giving my already venerable age, I will probably not be able to see the full implementation of Cortona 2.0. But every march begins with one step, as an old politician used to say, and I hope to see the first signs of that in Cortona live 2022…
